Year 3 - Year 6

Life is about change!

Young people need information before they reach a milestone to reduce fear and shame and promote self-efficacy.

With puberty now starting younger, from 8 years, RSE helps children manage the physical, emotional, and social changes of puberty.

 

Years 3 & 4 includes:

  • Learning the correct names for body parts

  • Learning the functions of private body parts as they relate to puberty

  • Understanding public and private

  • Exploring the changes of puberty

  • Recognising how we are all the same and all different

  • Discussion of pornography and upsetting media

  • Managing new feelings

  • Identifying trusted adults in their world

 

Year 5 & 6 includes:

  • Learning the functions of private body parts as they relate to puberty and reproduction

  • Exploring the changes of puberty

  • Discussion of pornography and media

  • Understanding human reproduction

  • Managing sexual feelings

  • Identifying trusted adults in their world

 

Recommended package includes:

2 x 60 minute student sessions (per year level)

Students remain in their regular class group

 

It is always advisable to hold a 60-minute parent session each year to address any issues or concerns.
